GOLDEN WEDDING
CELEBRATION AT JUDD'S CREEK
(Contributed)
After 50 years of life together, as
man and wife, Mr. and Mrs. Jones,
of ''Wattle Park'', near Judd's Creek,
two of the oldest and most highly
respected residents of the district
celebrated their golden wedding at
the home of their son and daughter
in law, Mr. and Mrs. Jack Jones, of
''Wattle Park.'' A wonderful gath-
ering of relatives and friends from far
and wide assembled to congratulate
the worthy bride and bridegroom, of
50 year ago. Mrs. Godden, sister
of Mrs. Jones, came all the way from
Forbes to be present. Although the
officiating clergyman was not there, a
good representative in the person of
the Rev. Dobb, the new clergyman of
Rockley parish, came to add con-
gratulation. After, upwards of a
hundred people had been seated to
the golden wedding feast, a table
laden with all the delicacies imagin-
able — a dazzling sight, beautifully
decorated with beautiful flowers, most-
ly golden, which reflects the greatest
credit on the ladies who were re-
sponsible, mostly near relatives and
neighbors of the happy old couple.
There was a wedding cake the art of
Mrs. Charlie Jones, another daughter
in law of the bride and bridegroom,
a three decker, which everyone de-
clared to be the best they had ever
tasted. No doubt it reflects great
credit on the builder and also for the
beautiful flowers which she produced.
Mr. Jim Godden, from ''Mora
Mora'' station, near Forbes, who mo-
tored down with his wife, the only
daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Jones, was
chairman and called on the Rev.
Dobb to toast the happy couple, whose
health was drunk with much enthu-
siasm. Several others also spoke in
eulogistic terms of the old couple.
Mr. Ted Jones very suitably respond-
ed on behalf of his father and
mother, who were also the recipients
of many nice golden presents.
After full justice had been done to
the tables, all hands adjourned to
the popular old woolshed where danc-
ing took place until the small hours
of the morning to the accompaniment
of accordeon and concertina, well
handled by Mrs. Les. Howard and
Messrs. Leo Hilton and Len Lassey.
After joining hands and the singing
of ''Auld Lang Syne'' the happy func-
tion broke up. Everyone joins in
wishing the worthy couple many years
of life in peace and happiness
amongst their children in their home
on the range. - [S13] WWW, http://archiver.rootsweb.com/th/read/NSW-ORANGEBATHURST/1999-10/0939712389.
