After several years of suffering —
suffering which only served to bring
out the beauty of a refined Christian
      character — Mrs. Isabella Stevenson
      passed away Thursday evening last.
The deceased lady, who had reached
the age of 76, had been in Glen In-
nes for the past nine years, coming
here from St. Marys. Her husband
predeceased her forty years ago. She
leaves a family of three— Mrs. Harry
      Crow (Forbes), Mrs. Jack Egan
(Glen Innes)— with whom the late
Mrs. Stevenson had lived— and Mr.
      Arthur Stevenson, of Lemon Grove
      Station, Nyngan.
On Friday afternoon the body was
interred in. the Glen Innes cemetery,
in the presence of a large gathering
      of sympathising friends. The deceas-
ed had been a loyal member of the
Salvation Army for many years, and
      the Army Band, thirteen strong,
preceded the cortege to the cemetery.
      There Commandant and Mrs. Drury
      conducted the funeral service, the
body being laid to rest with full Sal-
vation Army honors. Mr. F. Day
      supervised the burial arrangements.
A memorial service was held in
the Oddfellows' Hall last night, con-
      ducted by Commandant and Mrs.
Drury. The hall was adorned with the
Army emblems of mourning, and the
musical portion of the service includ-
ed hymns and solos which were fav-
orites of the departed Soldier. After
Mrs. Drury and Mrs. -- Nemey had
      spoken Commandant Drury. deliv-
ered an Impressive address from the
text, *Set thy house In order, for
thou shalt die and not live.' .
