DEATH OF MR. DANIEL CURRY

On Wednesday, April 10, Mr. Daniel Curry
an old and highly respected pioneer of the
Camden district, passed away at his late
residence, Elderslie, after an illness of some
fourteen weeks. The late Mr. Curry, was
born at Stony Range, on the Camden Park
Estate, on May 20, 1831; there being no
churches in Camden at that time the R. C.
services were held in Galvin's old home at
Elderslie, where he was christened. His par-

herd. The deceased gentleman has never
lived away from Camden, in his early days
was employed on Camden Park, and was
amongst those for a number of years who
brought the prisoners from Berrima goal, the
prisoners being hand-cuffed and chained to-
gether before placed in the waggons drawn
by bullocks to Camden. Mr. Curry could
tell some very interesting stories of the early
days; he witnessed the last two floggings
which took part in Camden, on the ground
near the present saw mills. In 1857 he was
married at Campbelltown by the Rev. Father
Terry, to Mary O'Reilly, daughters of the
then Sergt. of Police at Picton, who died in
1900. After his marriage he lived at Cobbitty
Paddocks, taking, on a clearing lease for
Camden Park. After leaving the Park, Mr.
Curry went to work for the late Mr. White,
at Kirkham, and the late Mr. Blackman, at
Cobbitty. The funeral took place at the
