- STRANGE ATTACK.
UPON POSTAL EMPLOYEE.
North Sydney police are inquiring into an
assault upon a post boy, near the Neutral
Bay wharf, last night
Eugene Tierney, 17, a postal employee, of
Falcon-street, North Sydney, was clearing a
pillar-box in Kurraba-Road, when a man
approached him, and asked to be directed to
the Neutral Bay wharf. Tierney turned his
head to face his interrogator and was struck
a stunning blow on his face He collapsed on
to the pavement, unconscious, and his assail-
ant made off. Several minutes later he was
picked up by the ambulance, and taken to the
Mater Misericordlae Hospital, suffering fiom
probably a fracture of the skull.
The boy was unable to ascribe a motive for
the attack. No attempt was made to rob
him, and he was not acquainted with his
assailant.
