Obituary
WALTER DANIEL REAKES
With the passing of Mr. Walter
Daniel Reakes at Dubbo Base Hos-
pital, another link with Tomingley's
earliest days was severed.
Born at Dubbo 78 years ago, he
came to the Tomingley district with
his parents as a child and had lived
in various parts or the district ever
since.
Friends recall that he was only ten
years of age when he drove a mail
from Obley to Dandaloo. He share
farmed at "Glen Isla" for many years
and for the past twelve years had
worked for Mr. Jack McGaw.
His mother once owned the Rail-
way Hotel (now the Imperial) at
Narrornine. He once owned several
horses, including Narromlne and Cy-
cling, which he raced in several
western towns. He was a crack
rifle shot and a wonderful bushman.
He is survived by his wife, who
lives in Narromine. and one daugh-
ter, Mrs. T. B. McFarland, of For-
bes. Mrs. J. Hangan, of Narromine,
is a sister.
