Death.
WILLIS.—On the 24th inst., at Commer-
cial Hotel, Colac, Sarah, relict of the late
John Willis (a native of county Tip-
perary, Ireland); aged 79 years.
The funeral will leave her late residence
on SUNDAY NEXT, at 3 p.m., for the
Colac Cemetery.

An old identity of Colac, in the
person of Mr. William Willis, died
at his residence, Colac East, on Fri
day last, at the age of 70 years. He
was a member of a family which was
closely associated with the early his
? ? tT.-o 1U- Tnl.n
Willis, who arrived in Australia in
1841, first settled in New South Wales
where he engaged in pastoral activi
ties for about six years, removing to
Colac in 1849, his son, William, being
about four years old at the time.
The deceased had been engaged in
farming pursuits for a number of
years, and was also greatly interested
in sporting. He leaves a widow and
a family of four sons and three
daughters — the Rev. V. Willis (of St.
Francis' Church, Melbourne), Ber
nard. Eugene, Everard, Sister Muriel
(Convent of Mercy, Ascot Vale),
Queenie and Beatrice — and the deep
est sympathy is extended to them in
their affliction.
The body was conveyed to St.
Mary's Catholic Church, where Re
quiem Mass was celebrated by the
Rev. Father Willis, son of deceased.
The cortege from the church was a
lengthy and representative one, and
the body was laid to rest in the family
allotment in the Catholic portion of
the Colac cemetery. The Rev. Father
Willis, son of deceased, supported by
the Rev. Fathers Daley and McGloin,
conducted the service at the grave,
the coffin-bearers being Messrs. John
Callanan, H. Powell, A. G. Spark,
and H. McMahon. The pall was sup
ported by Messrs. F. Anthonjr, M.
Willis, jun., Geo. Hills, Geo. Arm
strong, Jos. McMahon, John Woods,
G. F. Sydenham, W. McNicol, Alex.
Cameron and Jno. Mahoney.
