MRS. CATHERINE AGNES RIGNEY
It is with deep regret that we re-
cord the passing, in Brisbane, of one
of Cootamundra's oldest identies,
Mrs. Catherine Agnes Rigney, the
widow of the late Michael Rigney.
Deceased was born in County Clare,
Eire, in 1866, and, with her parents,
the late Michael and Bridget Hallinan,
and other members of her family,
came to Australia in 1883. She lived
at "Clare Villa," Dudauman, until her
marriage to the late Michael Rigney
of "The Grove," Brawlin, who pre-
deceased her in 1913. The later years
of deceased's life were spent on her
property, "Little Grove," two miles out
of Cootamundra, and owing to ill-
health, afterwards, with various mem-
bers of her family in Queensland. She
died at the home of Mrs. Flynn,
Brisbane, on the morning of Septem-
ber 15.
The surviving daughters are Mrs. J.
Carrol (Cowra), Mrs. R. Grace
(Cootamundra), Mrs. W. Lenane
(Brisbane), Mrs. M. Flynn (Brisbane),
and Mrs. B. Grace (Yass). Two
daughters pre-deceased their mother,
one at the age of nine months, and the
other, Mrs. J. Rourke (Dorrie), of
Gympie.
The surviving six sons are Bert,
(Geurie), Mick, Charlie, and Hal
(Morto, Queensland), Tom (Eumundi,
Queensland), and Jim (Cootamundra).
The surviving brothers and sisters
of deceased are Bridget (Sister Marie,
of the Little Sisters of the Poor,
Dunedin, New Zealand), Maggie (Mrs.
Fogarty, Temora), Jim (Cootamundra),
Jack (Young).
The late Mrs. Rigney was of a most
amiable and charitable disposition,
and endeared herself to a large circle
of friends in our district, who mourn
her passing.
The cortege left the Sacred Heart
Church, Cootamundra, at 11 a.m. to-
day for interment in the Catholic
cemetery.
