EIGHTIETH BIRTHDAY
Mrs. James Magwick Celebrate
On 25th December, one of the
oldest residents of Gilgandra cele-
brated her 80th birthday. We refer
to Mrs. James Madgwick, snr., who
has resided in the town and district
for the past 61 years. Among those
present were Mr. and Mrs. Fred
Walter and grandson Freddie, from
Grenfell; Mr. Clif Madgwick and
wife and family, from Orange; Mr.
Colin Madgwick, Dubbo; Mr. and
Mrs. A. Couley, Bourke; Mr. and
Mrs. Syd Furnes, Sydney; Mr.
Herb Reynolds and family; Mr.
Herb Madgwick and family; and
Mr. Clarrie Madgwick and family.
In all, there were present 55 of the
Madgwick family. At 9 o'clock the
cake was placed on the table, and
candles placed on it. Mrs. Madg-
wick blew out the candles, and then,
cut the cake, which was handed
round with a glass of wine. Mr.
H. Reynolds, oldest son-in-law, pro-
posed the toast, and took the oppor-
tunity to wish Mrs. Madgwick
health and happiness and many
more birthdays. The toast was ac-
corded musical honours, all joining
in the ringing of "She's A Jolly
Good Fellow."
Songs were sung by many of
those present, and the happy gather-
ing concluded by all singing "Old
Lang Syne."
